SMEs play a key role in employment and economic development in Bangladesh, yet often face limited access to long-term financing. Through the credit line, OeEB supports the expansion of Prime Bank's SME lending portfolio and improves access to capital for businesses.

The financing also contributes to financial inclusion. Through its specialised SME & agricultural branches and partner MFIs, Prime Bank offers tailored financial products for businesses, agricultural enterprises and microentrepreneurs.

Prime Bank is one of Bangladesh's leading and good governed commercial banks, serving more than one million customers, including over 320,000 women. The bank has extensive experience working with international development finance institutions and was recognised as Bangladesh's "Most Innovative SME Bank" and "Most Sustainable Bank" in 2024.

The project is aligned with OeEB’s strategic priorities in SME finance, financial inclusion and Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
