In February 2016, OeEB provided a long-term credit line of USD 10 million to Commercial Leasing & Finance (CLC) in Sri Lanka, as part of a USD 153 million syndicated loan arranged by FMO. The funds are dedicated to the financing of local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSME).

MSME are considered an important backbone for economic growth for the Sri Lankan economy and play an essential part in creating and securing jobs. CLC especially focuses on MSME. The credit line enables CLC to further increase its financing activities with MSME and thus contribute to strengthening the Sri Lankan private sector.
In addition to OeEB and FMO, DEG, OFID, Finnfund, Proparco, BIO, ResponsAbility, Blue Orchard, Symbiotics, Oikocredit and ACTIAM participate in the loan.
Besides the loan transaction, OeEB, FMO and Proparco support CLC with a tailored technical assistance program to further professionalize CLC’s organization. This includes capacity building in the area of asset and liability management, client protection principles and a management development program focused on leadership and skill training for employees.
