Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of the economy in Costa Rica, accounting for more than 75% of all companies. This gives them an essential role in job creation and income generation. However, limited access to finance often restricts MSMEs in their growth.

Founded more than 30 years ago, Banco Improsa is the ninth-largest bank in Costa Rica and specializes in providing finance to micro, small and medium-sized businesses. OeEB's credit line enables Banco Improsa to further expand its MSME business. This will improve local MSMEs' access to finance and contribute to job creation and economic growth.
