Study investigates potential for renewable energy in Serbia.
Aim of the Project
The study – which was jointly commissioned by Oesterreichische Entwicklungsbank and the German DEG – analysed the Serbian energy market, investigated the potential for renewable energy and described the approval process for projects in the field of renewable energy.
It is estimated that Serbia has a potential for renewable energy amounting to the equivalent of 4 million tons of oil annually. However, due to insufficient infrastructure and lack of both legal regulations and financial incentives, only a fraction of this potential has been realised thus far. The study facilitates entry into this sector by private investors, thereby increasing the share of renewable energy on the Serbian market in the long term.
