Innovative finance for micro- and small and medium enterprises in sub-Saharan Africa
Aim of project
REGMIFA is an investment fund promoting innovative finance for micro- and small and medium enterprises in sub-Saharan Africa. The fund provides credits for microfinance institutions (MFIs) in countries like Kenya, Tanzania or Ghana. These MFIs can thus provide microloans to enterprises. The innovative element of the fund is that it offers credit lines to the MFIs in local currencies. This leads to a reduction of currency risk and therefore the costs of the microloans can be reduced.
