Expansion of the existing Fair Trade rose farm Mount Meru Flowers in Tanzania.
Aim of Project
The co-investment of OeEB and the rose farm Mount Meru Flowers (MMF), Tanzania will enable the optimal and sustainable use of new land for growing Fair Trade roses. Necessary investments will contribute to a functioning water supply of the area under cultivation, which in turn will guarantee both the harvest and improved land productivity.
In addition, the newly developed land will be certified to Fair Trade standards. This will secure the jobs on the farm. Furthermore, farm-workers receive fair wages and fair working conditions.
Finally, due to OeEB's commitment, distribution points for drinking water will also be built in the nearby municipality, which will secure a drinking water supply for the community where most of the farm workers live.
