OeEB provides USD 20 million for the construction of a 335 MW combined cycle power plant in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is one of the poorest countries in the world. Only about half of the population has access to electricity and power outages are still commonplace. Achieving an adequate energy supply is of high priority to the government. As the country has substantial gas reserves and the potential for renewable energy is limited, gas plays a major role in the country’s energy production.
Summit Group’s power plant will be constructed in an industrial area near the capital city Dhaka and will run on gas (alternatively on diesel). Through the energy efficient construction as a combined cycle power plant, waste heat is used for producing power which increases overall efficiency of the plant.
