With Advisory Programmes funds, OeEB supports Sekerbank Turkey in e
stablishing a new bank product for energy efficiency financing to SMEs and households.
Sekerbank is one of the most important private banks in Turkey with 250 branches. In the forefront of an earmarked credit line to refinance energy efficiency loans, OeEB and KfW Entwicklungsbank are providing technical assistance to Sekerbank in order to improve the capacity of the employees at Sekerbank and its clients regarding energy efficiency.
The main activities of the project include
- Identification and analysis of business cases at Sekerbank
- Integrating energy efficiency as a new product at Sekerbank (procedure enhancement)
- Capacity training for employees and clients regarding energy efficiency
- Marketing assistance
- Performance of an impact measurement of the credit product
In order to be eligible for a loan, the end-borrowers need to prove that they will have energy savings of at least 20% and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20%.
The funds for the capacity building project at Sekerbank are provided in equal parts by KfW/German Development Assistance and OeEB. The contract was signed in November 2009.
